Street Photography of Shiodome and Tsukiji Outer Market

Shiodome and Tsukuji Great Street Photography Locations

Shiodome Shiosite has been one of my favourite street photography spots for a long time, ever since it was built in 2002. A constant flow of people, futuristic architecture, trains, great light, and better shadows make this an ideal choice for a street photography workshop. The fact that the Tsukiji Outer Market is just a few blocks away makes for a great day out for street photography.

I recently had the pleasure of guiding Selaru Ovidiu’s Tokyo Master Class around the city. These two locations were must-stops, as they offer the opportunity to photograph Japan’s past and present in a single day of shooting.

Although busy guiding, I did have a chance to shoot and add a few more images to my Shiodome-Tsukiji portfolio. Highly recommend both of these locations.

The gallery below was captured entirely with the Leica Q2 Monochrome. I proudly shoot in both colour and black and white; Tokyo demands to be seen in all its vibrancy.

Tsukiji Outer Market

Street photography in the Tsukiji Outer Market offers a vibrant mix of traditional and modern Tokyo life, providing photographers with endless opportunities to capture candid moments, unique characters, and dynamic scenes. The bustling energy of the market, combined with its rich cultural atmosphere, allows for authentic storytelling through the lens, making it an ideal location for photographers to hone their skills in observation, composition, and spontaneity.

Shiodome Shiosite

Street photography in Shiodome Shiosite offers a dynamic blend of modern architecture, constant foot traffic, and unique lighting conditions, making it an ideal setting for capturing diverse urban scenes. The area’s futuristic design and vibrant atmosphere inspire creativity, while the mix of people and movement provides endless opportunities for spontaneous, authentic moments. This environment helps sharpen a photographer’s skills in observation, composition, and timing, resulting in compelling visual stories.

A Day of Street Photography in Tokyo

Spending a day creating street photography in Tokyo is an exciting journey through bustling markets, sleek modern architecture, and vibrant city life. With a camera in hand, each neighbourhood offers a unique mix of traditional and contemporary scenes, from the lively Tsukiji Outer Market to the futuristic elegance of Shiodome. Every corner is alive with compelling subjects, dynamic lighting, and spontaneous moments, making it a perfect city to capture authentic visual stories and hone your skills as a street photographer.
